This Instant Pot New York Strip Steak recipe will take your home cooking to the next level, turning a basic cut of meat into a gourmet treat. Follow these steps to achieve a succulent, flavorful steak that rivals any steakhouse offering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 New York Strip steaks, about 1-inch thick each
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter

Instructions

  • Step 1 – Remove steaks from the refrigerator to bring them to room temperature, about 30 minutes before cooking. Pat dry with paper towels and rub each steak with olive oil.
  • Step 2 – Mix salt, pepper, minced garlic, thyme, and rosemary in a small bowl. Rub the seasoning mixture generously onto both sides of each steak.
  • Step 3 –  Insert the trivet in the Instant Pot and add a cup of water. Set the pot to ‘Sauté’ mode and heat it up.
  • Step 4 – Once hot, sear the steaks in the Instant Pot for about 2 minutes on each side to form a crust. Remove the steaks and turn off the ‘Sauté’ mode.
  • Step 5 – Place the steaks back in the pot on the trivet. Top each steak with a tablespoon of butter.
  • Step 6 – Secure the lid, set the valve to sealing, and cook on high pressure for about 5 to 10 minutes, depending on how rare you want the steak.
  • Step 7 – Perform a quick pressure release after cooking. Remove the steaks from the Instant Pot and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
