Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound outside skirt steak
  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  • Step 1 – Preheat your cast iron skillet over high heat for about 5 minutes until it’s smoking hot.
  • Step 2 – Pat the skirt steak dry with paper towels and season it with the dry rub made from paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, pepper, and salt.
  • Step 3 – Add avocado oil to the skillet, then place the steak in the pan. Sear the first side for 2-3 minutes without moving it to form a crust.
  • Step 4 – Flip the steak and sear the other side for another 2-3 minutes until both sides are browned.
  • Step 5 – Add butter to the skillet and baste the steak for the last 30 seconds.
  • Step 6 – Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5-7 minutes to keep the juices inside.
  • Step 7 – Slice the steak against the grain for maximum tenderness and serve.
